a long haul's journey outta sight: Duneswood, that... →
mylonghaul:
I’m camping tonight in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, although the campground, Duneswood, is about a mile and a half from the lake.
Across the way are a couple of guys doing a quick four day ride from Ann Arbor, MI to Chicago. They did two awesome things:
They shared the lentils and rice…
Did I not tell you so???
I forgot the picture

I always do that.
Back in Valentine I met Dave Benter. Dave is riding back to his home is Seattle, nearing the end of what will be more than a year on the road.
He started riding upon retiring from the Air Force. First down the coast to San Diego then straight across the South and down to Key West. Next back up to DC and back west. Pretty epic.

Today, blah

I’m off a little late today. Had to repack all my drying gear and prepare for today’s wet ride. It in the mod-60s and raining lightly. Rain’s no big deal, so long as the thunderstorms and winds don’t act up.

”Maybe you can use your old tent for sail/rain cover on your cargo hold.”
Tent debacle, updated
mylonghaul:
Yesterday evening a kind soul to whom I had related my story of woe and tent failure, drove around town until he saw my bike outside of a restaurant.
He found me inside and brought me his old tent, one he was sure functioned as it should.
It’s like there’s a contest for the kindest Husker.
Can’t wait to see pictures of the new tent!
a long haul's journey outta sight: A typical day... →

(back on Sunday, I had planned a minute-by-minute day in the life, but my battery dids in the middle. Here’s what I managed to get.)
4:56a: I wake and since my alarm is set for 5:05, I turn it off and grab my book. Reading helps clear my head of sleep’s shroud.
5:23a: put down my book, not…
I was going to ask about bike shorts.
Day off!

I’m resting in Casper, WY today. I talk at y’all tomorrow!
Enjoy! Maybe take the time for more tech descriptions…like hand and back positions…I noticed you have a pretty ergonomic handlebar setup. Where do you most often park your hands? What about seat height?
